How We Brought Lynn & Jacob’s Destination Wedding Weekend to Life in St. Augustine
Havana, FL Planner for a Destination Wedding in St. Augustine

Planning a destination wedding at The White Room, St. Augustine, FL is such a perfect example of why I always say weddings should feel like an experience, not just an event.
For Lynn and Jacob, that was the whole vision from the start.
Because St. Augustine had always been one of their favorite places to visit together, choosing to bring their closest people there for the weekend just made sense. They wanted something intimate, fun, and meaningful—a celebration that felt like a getaway for everyone instead of a quick one-day wedding.
And honestly? It was one of those weekends that reminded me exactly why I wanted to start this dream of doing what I love.
The Weekend Started Long Before the Wedding Day
One of my favorite things about destination weddings is how the celebration starts before anyone walks down the aisle.
We kicked things off Friday with a noon rehearsal, lunch with the wedding party at one of their favorite local spots, and then an afternoon and evening of bar hopping around downtown with their people. It set the tone for the whole weekend: relaxed, joyful, and centered around making memories.
Because that’s what they cared about most. They wanted guests to leave feeling like they had been part of something special, not like they just showed up for a ceremony and dinner party.
As their planner, that weekend flow was such a big part of the experience. From keeping everyone where they needed to be, coordinating the moving pieces between Airbnbs, the rehearsal, dinner plans, and wedding-day logistics, every detail was mapped out so Lynn could just enjoy being the bride.
Wedding Morning with the Sweetest Family Moments
The wedding day itself was full of those little moments that stay with you.
One of the most special parts of the morning was Lynn getting ready with her two boys. Seeing them take in their mom as a bride and helping her with their own special accessories was one of those moments that instantly reminds you what weddings are really about. It wasn’t overdone or overcomplicated. Just simple, emotional, and meaningful. That really matched the whole style of the day.
Her satin gown was timeless, the bridesmaids wore soft pastel tones in different styles, and the overall look felt elegant without trying too hard- sage, dusty pink, touches of dusty blue, and soft gold details layered in all the right places. Everything felt beautiful, but still comfortable and true to them.
Personal Details That Made It Feel Like Them
What I loved most about this wedding was how naturally their personalities showed up in the details.
They included sweet nods to their dogs through custom koozies, signature drinks, and the cutest figurines on the cake table. Their engagement photos were used as table numbers, which was such a simple but personal touch.
There was also a beautiful memorial setup in honor of Jacob’s younger brother, which added such a meaningful layer to the day.
Nothing felt forced. Every detail had a purpose, a memory, or a story behind it.
That’s always what makes a wedding stand out to me, not how much decor there is, but how personal it feels when it all comes together.
My Favorite Moment: The Private Last Dance
Out of everything from the weekend, my favorite moment was easily their private last dance.
After all the excitement, guests, music, and celebrating, they had a quiet moment together to just soak it all in before the night ended.
Those are the moments couples remember forever. Not just the flowers or timeline (although yes, I love those too 😂), but how the day felt.
Calm.
Celebratory.
Meaningful.
So very them.
Why Having a Planner for a Destination Wedding Matters
This wedding was extra special because I got to serve Lynn not only as her planner, but also as one of her closest friends.
That meant stepping in wherever needed- from attending their tasting in St. Augustine when they couldn’t be there, handling signage, invitations, seating, decor setup, coordinating the entire weekend, cleanup, pickup, and even making sure transportation between Airbnbs ran smoothly with my wonderful Hubby's help (because let's be real- the one job a planner's husband didn't sign up for but gets anyway is assistant #1!)
Destination weddings come with extra layers, and having someone local to you who knows your vision, your people, and how you want the weekend to feel makes all the difference.
If you’re planning a wedding away from home and want someone who can help make it feel seamless, personal, and stress-free, I would love to help.
